Milo Baumann coffee table, a white Murano glass chandelier hanging from the ceiling, and a Warren Platner for Knoll Midcentury Marble Top Side Table.

The 20-foot ceiling in the living room is anchored by a dark rug to absorb light, while a leather sectional and a pair of swivel chairs provide a comfortable conversation space that connects the living area and terrace, overlooking Biscayne Bay. Vintage mid-century accents include a Milo Baughman coffee table and a white Murano glass chandelier. The corner structural column of the living room was clad in a custom mix of Murano glass mosaic.

Vintage mid-century classic accents, a Milo Baumann coffee table, and a Murano glass chandelier enhance the beauty of the duplex.

KGD reworked this corner duplex to create a larger living room by relocating the kitchen to accommodate counter stools. The kitchen was redesigned for optimum space, featuring white lacquer, rift oak, and terrazzo countertops.

An African mask watches over 3 Bertoia Stools by Harry Bertoia for Knoll, and an Igloo Chandelier by Studio Klass for FontanaArte.

The kitchen’s mirrored backsplash reflects views of Miami Beach and Biscayne Bay. Terrazzo floors were installed throughout the duplex, contrasting with the new custom wood and lacquer staircase. Harry Bertoia counter-height stools accent the kitchen’s timeless design.

The wooden staircase was re-engineered to soften the apartment and connect it with the kitchen. It was reconfigured with cantilevered open steps leading into the enlarged living room, allowing space for a desk area and storage beneath. Architectural glass panels, anchored with chrome bolts, extend up the staircase to the master bedroom.

Lutron blinds offer both privacy and a serene atmosphere for relaxation. The apartment’s floors are beautifully overlaid with terrazzo featuring seashells, complemented by a colorful rug that anchors the bedroom. A wooden bed frame adds a natural touch, enhancing the overall warmth of the space.

The master bathroom was gutted and rebuilt with frosted glass pocket doors. The shower was enlarged by repurposing an unused chase space, creating a shower seat with a wall of blue glass tiles and white Thassos granite. The overall bathroom renovation included raising the ceiling to match the height of the bedroom. Additionally, we incorporated a Robern medicine cabinet with two tube lights reminiscent of Bauhaus style.

My clients from East Hampton initially envisioned a snowbird’s nest for the winter months, but they now find themselves in Miami more often.
